Mindful Horsemanship Clinics

by Heart Centered Horsemanship

Grow your client base and community with a clinic that shifts the paradigm,

inviting riders to learn from their horses, not just train them

Mindful Horsemanship is about Authentic Connection

Based on three tiers of groundwork, Mindful Horsemanship Clinics teach people to create a relationship

in which the horse is a willing partner.

Tier 1: How We Show Up

Does your horse perceive you as solid and grounded, something to soften and organize around,

or does your horse push and pull you?

Do you hold a safe space and communicate safety to your horse through your body language?

Can you maintain your own safety by setting clear and effective boundaries?

Tier 2: Giving the Horse a Reason to Connect

Does your horse enjoy being with you?

Can you offer them support that helps them relax and release tension in mind and body?

Does your horse welcome your touch?

Tier 3: Speaking the Horse's Language

Do you know how to speak in the horse's language of movement, position, and energy?

Does your horse understand your communication without the need for a trained response?

Are your movements and body language congruent with what you are asking?

Mindful Horsemanship Clinics, brought to you by Heart Centered Horsemanship

include attention to the three tiers

and each clinic can be customized to your unique preferences.

Customize what works best for you!

Riding with Mindful Movement

Experience true unity through connection and learning to embody the movements you desire from the horse. These clinics include time on the mat, where we can explore movement within our own bodies and understand how they can be used to create connected movement with the horse.

Learn to move intentionally in a way that your horse will naturally understand.

Improve your ability to guide your horse as an extension of your own body.

Develop skills to keep your horse aligned and balanced under saddle to support healthy movement.

Exploring Debono Moves

Created by Feldenkrais Practitioner Mary Debono, this hands-on modality is an ideal way to soften your horse and develop connection.

Learn to use touch to help your horse release muscular tension and bracing for more fluid ease of movement.

Develop effective ways to calm your horse and regulate the nervous system.

Gain a new appreciation of how going slower, softer, and easier can enhance your relationship with your horse.

Riding with Rhythm, Softness and Alignment

No matter what your riding aspirations may be, learning to keep your horse soft, straight and rhythmic will improve well-being and performance. With this focus, you will learn to

Improve softness and suppleness in your horse by releasing brace while you're riding.

Maintain a relaxed and energetic rhythm with ease.

Use clear movements in your own body to bring your horse into alignment for optimal biomechanical function.

Preparing Therapeutic Horses to Show Up Safely and Authentic Way

A clinic specifically developed for equine specialists and professionals providing therapeutic equine assisted services.

Trust that your horse will safely engage with people through choice and autonomy.

Learn compassionate and effective alternatives to traditional training that are more suitable for a therapeutic environment.

Stacey is the embodiment of Heart Centered Horsemanship!  It was obvious from our first encounter that her heart is in all she teaches.  My relationship and connection with my horse (Dixie) has improved because of her methods.  Stacey has made me a better rider and Dixie is calmer and we are more attuned to each other.

Kathy Knutson, client

Stacey has an unequivocal talent to teach the ability of helping you connect with your horse. Her horsemanship skills tap into the needs of both horse and rider. She educates you to have a better understanding of how to communicate clearly. Her methods encourage the horse to want to preform with ease and grace, without the pressures of tugging, kicking, and pulling. I have experienced great improvements as a rider and vast enhancements for my horse.

Mary Debono, Creator of Debono Moves

Stacey Carter has beautifully integrated the principles of improving awareness and fostering ease in horse and rider. She's skilled at enhancing communication and promoting harmony in equine-human interactions. Stacey’s ability and depth of experience are evident in the compassionate way she teaches and trains.

Crystal Fluhartey, client

Due to multiple injuries, my Quarter Horse hadn’t been ridden in over a year.  I spent months looking for a trainer to help me get her ready to ride again.  Everyone I talked to had a “manhandle” type of approach.  I wanted someone who saw these animals as being the sensitive creatures they are, who deserve to be treated with respect.  Stacey took time getting to know us, developing a relationship not only with me, but my mare as well.  She taught me how to make all my interactions with my horses be a positive experience for both of us.  I can’t say enough about how much Stacey has made a difference in the bond I have with my horses.

Leslie Bell, LCSW

Many books, articles and certification paths for EAP don’t give a lot of actual “hands on” techniques to use with your clients - it’s more about theory, philosophy and general practice (i.e. connection, nervous system regulation). That information has been great, but I wanted more ideas of what to do when in the session with a client (or clients) and horses. Stacey has given me countless activities and techniques to use when working with my clients and horses. All in keeping with the concepts of kindness, connection, regulation, mindful movement and horsemanship. It has been invaluable. I have used her ideas in many sessions with my clients, and am having wonderful results. Learning how to implement the concepts of connection, nervous system regulation, mindful movement, etc. has helped me so much in my journey in working with clients.
